Well I have finally finished the Car Trunk Quilt. Left it on the back of the couch till this morning and guess what ? It found a home. My mother took one look at it and she wanted it. She has it on the back of her chair and when it is cold, she will have something to keep her warm. It has a wool batting, so it will be very warm. I also finished the French Braid Runner. I will post pictures after my customer sees it, she wants to be surprised. Now on to other projects, but I have nothing in mind as of today. Happy Halloween all. Hope you have or had a safe holiday-save me some candy!!!!
I have added two more quilts for sale. Please feel free to take a look. These two are favorites of mine. I get so attached to everything I make, they are like my babies. Take a look and remember, I have layaway, and paypal. Quilts are like hugs of love. Make great Christmas gifts!!!!!
Well it is finally posted!!! Please take a look at my Christmas Pinwheels. It is in my holiday quilts page. This is a picture of just one block. Click on the link and take a look at the close ups. The pictures do not do this quilt justice. The blue green sashing and backing is a remarkable pattern (or lack of pattern). Take a look.
I am a very proud Momma. My daughter Kate just finished her second 1600 Jelly Roll Challenge. It is going off to Sandi to Long Arm Quilt. Let me explain what a Jelly Roll Challenge is. Quilt shops sell fabric lines, an example is this Moda Kansas Troubles. There may be any where from 20 to 40 different fabric prints in this line. The manufacturer will cut a 2 1/2 inch strip from the bolts of fabric and sell them as a "Jelly Roll" Most fabric is 40 inch in length. Kate sewed these stripes end to end forming one long strip measuring 1600 inches. Then with help from a friend, she would sew the ends together, making one double wide strip of 800 inches. She continued sewing end to end till a quilt is formed. Then adding a thin and wide border, her quilt is complete!!
Have started working on a French Braid table runner. It is all greens, and beiges with a touch of burgandy. It is my first attempt at this quilt-as-you-go project, but I am loving every minute of it. I have seen how they are done and I love challenging myself with something new. I am also hand sewing the binding on my appligue quilt. Have it half done. It is going to be a twin size-coverlet. All will be posted for sale soon. I will also show you a picture of the French Braid that is already spoken for!!!!
http://www.just-threads.com/ A friend has just set up a website for quality threads. Please check it out. She has a facebook site also Just Threads. If you quilt, embroidery or sew, this site is for you.
I know, I know. I haven't posted my Christmas quilt. If I tell you the excuse, you wouldn't believe it. So I will tell you that I do have another lap quilt ready to post. I also have still another that I hope to have ready tonight. The hand sewing of the binding, is time consuming. These lap quilts are easily taking two evenings each, in front of the tv. Hope to have ALL THREE up on the site in the next few days. Remember quilts make great gifts-like giving someone a hug!!!!
I have my latest Christmas quilt done and ready to be listed on the website. Watch for it to be added. Don't forget that I take paypal and have also set up layaway. Christmas clubs will be coming soon-get your Christmas list made (for you and gifts for others). And don't forget that Quilts are like hugs of love you give as gifts!!! Keep watching!!
Finally can say that I have attached the binding to my Car Trunk Quilt!!. It is in my stash of quilts that I have to hand sew and will then be finished. Going to work on my newest Christmas quilt. Anyone who knows quilting, knows that the binding has to be machine sewn to the front of the quilt. After that is done, it must be rolled to the back and hand sewn. That is all I have left to do to the Car Trunk Quilt and my other five. As I said I am doing the Christmas one first. I enjoy this phase of the process. It is like a reward to me. I get to sit in front of a favorite TV show or movie and sew away! When this is completed the quilt it finished and I feel so rewarded!! Keep you posted on these final five and of course the Car Trunk Quilt!!
Hello all. Well my little vacation is over. It was very mini-not long
enough. Drove to NYC on Thursday. Spent the afternoon at the 911 Memorial. I
will post some pictures when I have them downloaded. Friday my daughter, Kate,
and I shopped at City Quilter and walked the Fashion Institute Museum.
The Quilt Museum had an exceptional artist on display. Lisa Call creates bold geometric contemporary textile paintings where color is of primary importance and is combined intuitively, often in unexpected ways, employing a unique palette of cotton fabrics she hand dyes. Her work is abstract but draws elements from
many places: her love of the colors and geological forms of the southwest,
repetition, pattern, and an attraction to human-made structures for containment
such as fences and stone walls. Extensive stitching on the surface adds rich
texture to her finished work. ( Taken from following link: http://www.artquiltgallerynyc.com/The_ArtQuilt_Gallery_NYC/Current_Show.html
The evening was spent at the Barrymore Theater. We saw "Chaplin" It was remarkable. The whole show was stages\d in black and white. Costumes, props, furniture, everything was black white and grey hues. Remarkable. Bob McClure was Chaplin and he was unforgetable, as was the whole cast. it was a wonderful evening. But now we are home, with memories to cherish for ever. Back to QUILTING!!!!!!!
Please feel free to add your comments and suggests. I hope we can keep each other in STITCHES!!!!!
